Christian Barker (Barkmeta / Bark) and David Chaboki (Shibo) placed the epoch 1024 results at the center of their regular discussion so listeners received the closing tally directly.
Solana Compass reported on August 28 that the first binding on-chain vote wrapped with SGP-0002 at 68.77 percent support and 47.72 percent of eligible stake participating. That level cleared the two-thirds threshold. SGP-0003 finished at 62.72 percent support with 42.51 percent participation and 20.75 percent abstentions, short of the required bar. SGP-0001 reached 95.35 percent support on governance.solana.com.
Vote Mechanics and Participation
The window opened at epoch 1021 on August 23 and ran through epoch 1024 because epochs follow block production rather than calendar time. CoinDesk noted 47.72 percent participation on the leading proposal, which satisfied quorum rules. Abstentions on SGP-0003 counted toward the one-third quorum but did not help reach the supermajority needed for passage.
What the Results Mean
A passed proposal delivers a mandate for later implementation. SGP-0002 would double annual disinflation from 15 percent to 30 percent and move the 1.5 percent terminal inflation floor forward to roughly 2029. CoinDesk estimates this path would reduce SOL issuance by about 18.9 million tokens over six years. Code changes through SIMD-0550, followed by review and a feature gate, remain required before any adjustment takes effect.
SGP-0003 sought to raise daily fee burns from roughly 650 SOL to 9,000 SOL. The proposal fell short and produced no immediate change to fee mechanics.
Market Context at Close
CoinGecko data around 10:38 a.m. ET on August 28 showed SOL near 105.42 dollars, down 1.59 percent over 24 hours. Broader majors posted modest declines with BTC at 79,462 dollars and ETH at 2,505.67 dollars. The governance outcome supplies a clear signal on supply direction without altering spot or perps pricing mechanics in the moment.
Next Steps for Implementation
Developers must still deliver the SIMD-0550 changes, complete security review, and activate the feature gate. Validators and stakers will watch those milestones on the timeline. The divided result between the two main proposals leaves distinct tracks for supply tightening and fee adjustments.
The numbers from epoch 1024 establish leadership for the supply proposal and set the baseline for follow-on work.
